I had two skeins of orange mohair, different but similar, that I wanted to combine to make a scarf. This is what I came up with. I submitted the pattern to Debbie Stoller author of the Stitch 'n Bitch series of books when I saw a request for submissions on KnitList. The pattern was just published in the 2008 Stich 'n Bitch Page a Day Calendar(October 17), and it's also here.
Hazy Paves Scarf
Size: 10” x 80”
Yarns:
MC: Anny Blatt Fine Kid (51% wool 49% kid mohair; 50 g/ 280 yds,) 1 skein orange
CC: Rowan Kidsilk Haze (70%superkid mohair 30% silk; 25 g/ 229 yds,) 1 skein marmalade
Note: You can also use just one color if preferred and one skein of Kidsilk Haze is enough.
Needles: US size 9 (5.5 mm) preferably wood or bamboo.
Gauge: Approx. 12 sts = 4” in pattern stitch.
Pattern Stitch: Adapted from ‘Paving Stones’ stitch from “A Second Treasury of Knitting Patterns” by Barbara G. Walker. (Multiple of 4 stitches plus 1)
Directions:
Note: Carry unused color yarn along right side of scarf, and also carry cast-on tail up left side of scarf splicing new piece on when necessary. This will make both sides look the same.
